Head of FInance
InStudio Ventures is seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Finance to join our executive team. The Head of Finance will play a critical role in shaping the financial strategy of our organization, managing our investment portfolio, and ensuring the financial health and growth of the fund. This position demands a high level of expertise in financial modeling, analysis, and strategic planning, along with a deep understanding of the venture capital landscape.
InStudio Ventures is a pioneering sports technology and media fund dedicated to investing in early-stage (Seed+, Series A) companies, as well as leagues, clubs, and rights. We seek to revolutionize the sports industry by supporting innovative ventures that drive the future of sports technology and media.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management:
Oversee day-to-day financial tasks, including monthly management accounts, variance analysis, and compliance with global policies.
Lead budgeting and forecasting processes, collaborating closely on annual budgeting tasks.
Ensure timely internal and external reporting to investors, regulatory bodies, auditors, and other relevant parties.
Analyze partnership agreements for thorough understanding of reporting requirements and partner economics.
Manage year-end audits with fund administrators.
Budget, forecast, and cash flow analysis; complete fluctuation analysis and highlight trends.
General Financial Duties:
Develop fair market value calculations for the portfolio according to GAAP.
Manage outsourced back-office relationships and coordinate annual audits and tax returns.
Negotiate and manage vendor relationships, pay invoices, and oversee expense policies.
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and coordinate legal processes for fundraising.
Create and maintain fund, portfolio, and investor dashboards.
Investor Relations:
Lead fundraising efforts and secure $25MM in funding from Family Offices, HNWI, etc
Coordinate regular LP communications including quarterly & annual report distribution
Respond to ad-hoc LP requests regarding capital calls, commitments, compliance, tax, and other related matters
Assist with diligence requests during fundraising
Strategy and Execution:
Provide counsel on strategic financial objectives and future forecasts.
Lead data-driven decision-making processes and ensure alignment with organizational goals.
Stay up-to-date with industry trends and develop the fund’s overall investment strategy
Establish and monitor financial reporting and communication of results.
Perform risk management and compliance with financial regulations.
Portfolio Growth & Management:
Define and develop investment strategies based on market research and industry insights.
Drive deal sourcing and conduct rigorous diligence on potential investments.
Support portfolio companies' growth through strategic financial guidance.
Qualifications
Minimum of 7 years of experience in investment banking, private equity, or venture capital.
Prior experience at a venture capital fund leading investments with proven returns for investors/LPs.
Strong network of Family Offices, HNWI, and more.
Proven track record of excellence in financial modeling, analysis, and strategic planning.
Strong understanding of venture capital and early-stage investment dynamics.
Advanced degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field (MBA, CFA, or CPA preferred).
Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to manage and mentor a finance team.
High level of integrity, professionalism, and ethical standards.
Preferred Skills:
Experience in the sports technology and media sectors.
Familiarity with financial technology tools and platforms.
Strong network within the venture capital and investment community.

This is a hybrid work environment. You will be required to attend the LA-based office 2-3 times per week.
Pay Range: $150,000 - $250,000 DOE. Total compensation will include base + bonus + carry.
